Chips, guacamole and a homemade margarita….does it get better than that? Here is my recipe for guacamole; the perfect thing to bring along with you to any get-together. This recipe is so easy you will never buy store bought guacamole again.
Kelly’s Guacamole
Serves 6
2 avocados
1 small red onion, chopped fine
1 lime, juiced
1 hot pepper (fresno or jalapeno), optional
1/4 cup cilantro, chopped fine
1 teaspoon of ground cumin
salt and pepper to taste
tortilla chips
- Halve avacados and scoop flesh out into a medium size bowl.
- Juice limes directly onto avocados and mash with a fork.
- Add onion, hot pepper, cilantro, cumin, salt and pepper and stir until combined.
- Taste and adjust to your liking…. I think it is best to taste with a chip so you don’t end up adding too much salt….remember you can always add seasoning but you can’t take it away!
Serve with tortilla chips (and homemade margaritas).
Here is a good trick to help keep your guacamole fresher for longer and keep it from turning brown….
Place plastic wrap directly against the guacamole so no air is in contact with the guacamole…this will keep it from oxidizing.
